The Tales of FaceAdds @ Merzhavn
This long-term project examines the transformation of value systems within contemporary urban environments. Reflecting on urban growth and the simulacrum in which these changes occur, the work draws conceptual connections to Rem Koolhaas’s idea of the “Generic City” and the legacy of Schwitters’ Merzbau, linking earlier projects such as ReMerz City with MerzHavn.
Mirrors function as both metaphor and working method. Inspired in part by Borges’ writings on imaginary beings and mirror worlds, the works explore the unstable boundary between interior and exterior space—between reflection and desire.
Grayscale photographs inhabit a gray zone between industry, commerce, and residential life, while looping video suggests endless progress. Sound and altered proverbs disrupt this harmony, exposing cracks within the constructed image of the city.
