ReMystified (Re-appropriating Ecumenopolis):
“Ecumenopolis: City Without Limits”, from 2011, directed by Imre Azem,, is a movie which is structured in 6 chapters, posing some of the crucially important questions for the city of Istanbul, that nevertheless all remain unanswered by the authorities; each chapter is literally introduced as an unanswered phone call.
All these questions were meticulously answered by all kinds of competent people as architects, academics, writers, investors, city-dwellers, and community leaders, and yet they were ignored by authorities, which is why I am turning the cup for each of these chapters, looking for alternatives.
